Samantha Avery holds the very old piece of paper in her shaking hands. The treasure map terrifies her. From Dawson City, Yukon, her brother Finn sends her a map and letter, something he wouldn't have done unless he was in trouble. Without a second thought the successful fashion magazine editor packs her bags, leaves Chicago and heads into the vast wilderness of the Yukon.
Hunter Gray, local outfitter and guide, waits at the airport expecting to pick up Sam Avery. His instructions were clear—a trip up the river heading to the old Charlie Avery cabin. But he doesn't expect Sam to be a Samantha. Sparks fly between the two, and Hunter knows she is not prepared for a weeklong horseback trip into the mountains. Upon discovering Finn Avery is missing and that there is a possibility of truth behind the one hundred and ten year old tale of hidden Avery gold, Hunter agrees to take the job.
The kidnappers also believe there is hidden gold and discovered it was sent to Samantha—now she's their target. Each day Samantha and Hunter grow closer and closer together, but the problem is Hunter doesn't believe in love after his parents left him at an early age. Samantha, on the other hand, will do anything for the ones she loves.
Will they find the treasure and save her brother? And will her heart survive if she can't convince Hunter to believe in love.
