Searching for Answers
Professor Matthew Carrington accepted the Professor in Residence at the University of Virginia for one reason and one reason only. He wanted answers from his estranged family—the Callahans.
After the untimely death of his father when he was 12 in Bray, Ireland, Matthew was whisked away to Turners Point, Virginia to live with his uncle and aunt. That was the turning point in his young life. For the next year he felt love, stability, and acceptance. Everything was going great until his now clean, drug-addicted mother showed up and took him to Scotland.
Fast forward thirty years, Matthew's mother died from a drug overdose, his unfaithful wife has left him in their London flat. Matthew knew it was time for him to get the answers that has always puzzled him: why didn't anyone rescue him from his mother?
Arriving in Virginia, Matthew is now faced with new problems: his boss is less than helpful and reminds him daily that she doesn't think he's qualified for the job, he can't locate his lost family, and now the dean has been murdered and he's the most likely suspect. Talk about luck of the Irish?
Newly divorced Dr. Imogene Porter isn't looking for love. Truth be told, she's not even looking for a man. After the ending of her dull, unfulfilling marriage, she is focused on her career as department chairperson at the University of Virginia. She loves being the liaison between the professors and the deans.
When she unwittingly discovers one of the deans plans to fire the newest professor on a technicality, her sense of right kicks in. She may not care for the handsome Irish professor, but she was going to have to put on her big girl undies and help him save his job.
She is determined she can foil the deans' plot, but he's murdered before she can put a plan into action. She focuses on helping Matthew prove his innocence, but somewhere along the line, passion joined the party and neither one of them can stop the steam roller that is about to change their lives forever.
