The genocidal war in Megiddo, was over. Psyches though, from both sides, were slow to recover, if ever they would.
Andrei Romanoff: A man caught between two dominant needs that split his psyche. The animal part, reveling in its strength and power; oblivious to any ethical or moral tenets. And the reverential calling from the heart-compassion, love, respect for all life. The body rebelled, after years of denial spent in solitude, prayer, working on his lands. Andrei joined the Supremist Army, ignoring all it stood for, using it as the vehicle to expand his body's natural aggression. The adrenaline rush was addictive. Until the day he crashed. An unknown Inferior woman getting raped and tortured, standard warfare at the time, inexplicably caused him to break rank though. Disgusted with the whole of his being and what in practice it meant to be human, he felt like a puppet under the control of passions. His soul veering on despair, the loss of God/Love immanent, Andrei Romanoff's painful journey to accept and guide both his animal and divine needs was triggered by a sculpture depicting the heroic in man, from the very woman he once rescued.
Ismene Mishra: An Inferior woman; a gifted sculptor. Born to a mother of rape. Outcasts, they lived in extreme degradation, with the mother ultimately selling Ismene to Haidar Kahar, an Inferior Resistance Commander. Kahar dragged her through the killing fields, abusing her in a conflicted retaliation for what her sculptures portrayed: hope and rebirth. A toxic bond developed, Ismene came to project upon him all that was always possible for the human, despite the pain and ugliness. After her torture and rape, Haidar cut her off and a destructive cycle of inflicting violence upon herself and seeking degradation commenced.
When, ironically, Ismene and Andrei became allies in attempting to save their souls amidst the chaos that all the human was about, the heroic emerged from the ruins of despair.
