Dr Allan Meyer trained as a High School Teacher with the Victorian Education Department. He was called as Youth Pastor to Life Ministry Centre, Melbourne in 1978. He was further called to the role of Senior Minister with Mt Evelyn Christian Fellowship (Melbourne, Australia) in 1983 (renamed Careforce Church in 2003) where he and his wife Helen served for the next 26 years. In 1992 Allan, together with his wife, Helen, established Careforce Lifekeys (formerly known as Careforce Recovery Ministries), a Ministry that releases restoration, discipleship, and evangelism in thousands of churches and organisations in over twenty countries around the world. Allan concluded his doctorate with Denver Seminary in 2005. His project produced a new program for the sexual discipleship of men known as Valiant Man. The course has been used widely in Australia and New Zealand and has been translated into a number of languages and is being used to restore and fortify the moral and spiritual integrity of men in countries all over the world. In January 2009, after leading Careforce Church for 26 years, Dr Allan Meyer stepped into a role that allows him to focus on his primary passion – advocating the world-changing Lifekeys ministry and preaching the biblical themes and insights that have touched lives through the Lifekeys ministry all over the world.
Helen Meyer is the Director and co-founder of Careforce Lifekeys International. She is a trained primary and high school teacher and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Relationships from Melbourne University, a Master in Education (Adult Ed) from Monash University, a Master in Counselling from Monash University, and a Master in Science and Medicine (Sexual Health) from Sydney University. Helen and her husband Allan co-founded the Lifekeys ministry, developing 15 courses that address relationship, life, and faith issues. Lifekeys has been established in thousands of churches and counselling organisations in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, USA, Russia, and many other countries around the world. Helen’s own personal journey of healing from the impact of being raised in a household with chemical dependency and the early loss of her mother assists her in sharing the healing process in a practical way. Helen is currently the director of a Counselling Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
The key to the use of Small Groups in discipleship, recovery, restoration, healing and transformation is firstly the effectiveness of the training of the Facilitators or Small Group Leaders and secondly the quality of the tools you put in their hands. The effectiveness of a Small Group in delivering information, care and support is primarily determined by the behaviour of the leader. All too often the leadership of small groups is delegated to inadequately trained leaders; you cannot delegate responsibly without adequate training. This course is the product of 30 years of experience in training and deploying ordinary people to do extraordinary things in small group leadership.
