This is the perfect sequel to the fast-paced, fast-selling, Love's Home Run.
The story centers on reader favorite, Oscar Taylor. Oscar was the charismatic, explosive, magnetic and womanizing centerfielder for the Portland Crowns. He was respected as the best hitter in all of baseball as well as the man that gets more butts than ashtrays.
In Love's Home Run, Oscar, although married, watched in disbelief while his running partner was ambushed by love and got married. Jack Newhouse, the Crowns right fielder, had tired of the promiscuous life. Oscar, on the other hand, was more than pleased when his wife decided to leave him‑no more hotel bills, no more questions, no more pain in the ass at home.
Oscar was living life as he usual‑orgy parties and heavy drinking when he got the phone call that changed his life forever. His wife attempted suicide after yet another shameful incident of hurt. Seeing her in the hospital with her head bandaged affected him deeply. He lost self-love and respect for himself. From then on he is a changed man. He wants very much to redeem himself by showing his wife the love he should have but she has decided to move on.
On the other side of the story is the elegant yet lonely KATHERINE ELLIS. Katherine wants a man badly but she won't settle. She is sent from her hometown of Milwaukee to the west coast for a little less than a year and believes it is her chance to relax and get to know herself better. Katherine's boss was expanding his company to the Pacific Northwest and placed her in charge of developing the detailed plans. To entice her into taking on the tough job, which included moving to Portland from Milwaukee for six months, he rented a gorgeous mansion for her. It just so happens that the mansion she is staying in was once own by Oscar. And in an extraordinary mishap, Katherine would meet him there one night when he was too drunk to realize he no longer lived there.
Katherine was a big baseball fan and she didn't like Oscar Taylor or the Portland Crowns. He was the kind of guy that had her believing she'd be single for the rest of her life.
The two meet again and are both intrigued by their differences. Oscar craves and is drawn to her no nonsense manner of dealing with men. Katherine is attracted to his fun personality and the sexual aura that the man naturally exudes.
What Katherine finds, though, is that good men are in deed hard to find but a man that is willing to learn can be good for the soul. And in turn, Oscar, who before meeting the dark honey from the Midwest, couldn't tell a soul mate from a good lay, falls for just the right woman…a dog trainer.
Also, the reader is treated to visits with the couple, Djuana and Jack Newhouse, Oscar's best friend, that fell in sweet love in the prequel, LOVE'S HOME RUN. Now they are dealing with being married and try to overcome the lost of their baby.
