Lavie Tidhar est né en Israël. Il commence à voyager à l'adolescence, en Afrique du Sud, au Vanuatu, au Laos, etc. et il aime explorer des genres variés (poésie, thriller, science-fiction...) dans ses livres. Il a gagné de nombreuses récompenses, dont le prestigieux World Fantasy Award. La Mafia des bonbons est son premier roman jeunesse. Lavie Tidhar vit aujourd'hui à Londres.
