He lived in Sydney for the next eleven years and then his father signed him up for twelve years in the Royal Australian Navy. Charles served three tours of duty as a code breaker during the Vietnam war and left the service in 1973. He attended university and graduated as a secondary Art and English teacher in 1978 and served in the Education Department of Western Australia for thirty one years. After his teaching career Charles went back to university and graduated as a Naturopath in 2007, and after continued studies graduated as a psychotherapist in 2010. Charles is now retired and lives by the sea in Perth Western Australia, close to his two daughters.
Greg Langford, an Australian Government Security Officer is onboard an Airforce jetliner returning invaluable Egyptian artefacts to Cairo from Canberra. Suddenly a ground to air missile fired by Somali terrorists locks on to them and a few terrfying minutes later the aircraft is hit and crashes in the Somali desert. Langford and his friend Barry Wilder are the only two crew to survive the crash. The terrorists responsible arrive at the scene intent on finding the treasure and raising finance for an illeigal immigrant invasion of the Australian mainland. It becomes evident to Langford that inside information out of Canberra has been supplied to the terrorists. Two government employees in Canberra have found what they consider to be an easy way to make quick cash and they are guilty of revealing the flight plan of the aircraft to foreign agents working with the Somalis. The artefacts onboard the aircraft are taken from the desert crash site to England where they are to be offered for sale on the world wide black market and an auction is established at a plush London address where the sale will take place. A variety of international Art gallery representatives and private collectors from around the world attend the clandestine auction, and Langford follows the trail to the establishment's address where he identifies and exposes those involved. His indiscretion earns him a place on the underworld's most wanted list to be eliminated in Britain. A few days later an attempt is made on his life by thugs hired by businessmen and crooked politicians who want him punished for his involvement in the exposure of their illicit business dealings. Langford unfortunately contracts a life ending form of cancer and decides to strike a blow for justice before he dies. He plans to eliminate a list of people in the world who he knows are at the foundation of major crime groups and he makes this the focus of his last days. Included on his list are the leaders of corrupt Western business conglomerates and leaders of the middle eastern terrorist groups who are intent on taking over the Australian government. During his last field operation, Langford infiltrates the inner sanctum of the terrorists operating in Australia when he returns to Sydney. He hunts down the perpetrators and delivers a telling blow to their plans by using their own suicide bombers to destroy their front line of attack at a Sydney sports stadium. The story concludes with a philosophical account of Langford's efforts by his long time friend Bob Hersey, a prominent police offier who knew Langford and his approach to the maintenance of justice.
