That's what I said, until I came up with the story that resulted in this book. It's all about the next 1,000 years or sooner in which the Earth gets a 2nd sun in the sky. And, yes, I came up with this crazy idea while looking up at the stars and wondering how hard it would be to make one.
Then, it hit me because Jupiter was very bright and directly overhead, the first time it was this close in 69 years.
I could hear the Gas Giant actually screaming at me - desperate to be turned into a sun, the 2nd sun in our sky. It has been patiently waiting for four billion years and it knows that we have the ability now to do it for her.
It's all about forcing the hydrogen deep inside Jupiter's compressed atmosphere to start a fusion chain reaction and that's it. We can send SpaceX and NASA in a few short years and . . .
