Strolling down Bourbon Street in the French Quarters of New Orleans, a storefront captures my attention. Displayed are hauntingly beautiful Mardi Gras masks. One mask has me mesmerized. It has a sinister appeal that I can't resist.
I bought the mask knowing my wife would love to add this to her Mardi Gras collection.
We proudly hang the mask on our living room wall. With the seemingly glowing red eyes, this mask quickly became my wife's favorite.
One day, our sons have a Nerf Gun battle, knocking the mask down. My wife's favorite Mardi Gras mask shattered. I cleaned up the shattered pieces.
My wife arrives home, and I inform her about the mask. Stomping into the living room, she asks, "Are you joking? The mask is hanging on the wall."
Beyond stunned, I noticed that she was right! The same mask I know I cleaned up is hanging on the wall!
It is the start of devious events. The glowing crimson eyes have sinister intentions.
