Tales from the Jungle Trials
In the jungle, a long time ago, animals had undecorated hides and skins. Their bodies had plain colours like brown, grey, black or white. They did not have fancy patterns like the colourful stripes or beautiful spots.
But then, something magical happened. A special creature named Spektra appeared. Spektra had the power to give these animals the colourful stripes or beautiful spots on their bodies.
But here is the tricky part: Spektra gave them some tests first. At the beginning of the tests, ten animals would be present, but in the end, only one of them could win and get the beautiful decorations.
One of these animals was the Zebra. It won in one of the sets of tests and got its wonderful black and white stripes.
Twenty years later, Spektra conducted another group of tests and the leopard won. Spektra then painted it with the spots it had always wanted to have.
The tiger also won in another group of tests that happened a hundred years later.
For the losers, there were various types of punishments.
Some would be sent away from the forest. If they were not dangerous they would become slaves of man. Cats and goats for example, ended up in this situation.
Some would be given community service punishments and later on retain their plain colours, and some would be given ugly markings.
In every set of tests, the last test was the most dangerous. It was really important to understand this last test. Without understanding it, an animal could end up doing something wrong. It could then get hurt or even die. For instance, the dinosaur did not understand the test, and ended up dying thousands of years before. That is why we don't have dinosaurs today.
In another different set of tests, the mammoth, a very large animal that resembled an elephant, perished after failing the last test. From then on, mammoths are no longer in this world.
To most animals, being beautiful is what they really desired. Even though there were possibilities of punishments and other dangers in the tests, they were willing to participate. But it was not even easy finding a chance to take part in the tests. Simply put, an animal was considered lucky to even participate.
By chance, the following ten animals were selected for the next set of tests: Burton the buffalo, Jackeline the jackal, Tobias the tortoise, Harry the hare, Baldin the badger, Gerald the giraffe, Hosea the horse, Walter the warthog, Ryan the rhino and Hanna the hyena.
