BARED SOULS is a collection of five flash fiction stories that delve into the inner workings of the (mostly) human mind. Each story is different, some thriller, some fantasy, with one theme linking them: psychological anguish.
In the supernatural thriller, "The Burn", Amelia is stuck in a dream with the devil, disguised as her husband. She has to face the consequences of her own actions, but how can she atone without knowing what she did? And the devil sure isn't going to let her wake up until she remembers.
"Among Dunes of Snow" is a fantasy that revolves around an unnatural world with more than one intelligent species, dictated by the original spirits at the peak of the world. One species, in its inability to procreate, has devised a way of survival through means of scientific reincarnation, but when Minerva wakes to live again, she sees the chaos she had left behind.
The thriller, "Barbed Wire", follows Victor Kennedy, a devoted detective who is called out to a horrifying scene where he catches his first glimpse of the barbed wire murders. Victor can't seem to crack the case and soon realizes that there is barbed wire everywhere he goes, like a looming omen. Victor must face his own mind to escape the cloaked figures that lurk around every corner.
In "Contemplation", a woman struggles with her deepest thoughts, fighting against herself, her responsibilities, and the world.
"Evidence Bags" is the story of two star-crossed lovers and partners in crime who watch their relationship recede over time in a crushing way, but a simple break-up is not an option for two criminals when they've shared their sins.
