In 1983, Albert D. Rose heard about the uninhabited archipelago from sailors who were visiting Maldives. Only years later, he found out what really happened to the British population, the 'islois'. It inspired him to this adventurous thriller.
1970. Australian sailors are chased out of the idyllic lagoon of an island of Chagos, an uninhabited British archipelago south of Maldives. Who was the man with the gun? Why was he chasing them? John, a reporter of the Perth, has to go to the bottom of it. He sails to the archipelago.
The arrival of yet another sailor is not to the liking of Charlie, an American who is preparing an ultra-secret operation on the largest island of the archipelago, Diego Garcia. Every visitor means a potential information leak. Charlie intends to make things difficult for the newcomer.
John is stranded on the coral reefs, but survives. He notices that Diego Garcia is not uninhabited at all. On the contrary, there are lots of people, houses, a church, a school, a hospital and a copra factory. When he meets Charlie and notices that he is not the marine biologist he pretends to be, John becomes more determined than ever to uncover the full truth. Charlie however discovers that John is working for a newspaper. He decides to push things to the limit to prevent his secret mission from being jeopardized.
Thriller inspired by true events.
