Cosamian Dastou is the last living Saint. His immunity to the Social Cypher, a system of mass-hypnotism that regulates and controls modern life, means that some people worship him, and many more think of him as a pariah, a monster.
Rather than languish as the last of his kind, he opts to fight. Dastou has collected those who apprenticed under his people in the past, and those with similar, though weaker, immunities, and founded a school to teach others his skills. Everything is going shockingly well, Dastou's school is prospering, his student body powerful and talented… and then someone tries to kill him with an attack that instead hurts or kills dozens of innocents.
The resulting devastation sets up an action-packed adventure in which Dastou and his friends go to strange, secret places, fight terrifying new enemies, and try to survive against a guardian whose skills match or exceed their own.
