The FREAK IN THE FLESH AND OTHER SHORT WORKS collection is the newest collection from aspiring author Adam R. Lucas. These stories are intended to make the readers question the normalities (and abnormalities) in our world and ponder the ways of society as we know it. The collection consists of three short stories: "Freak in the Flesh," "Judgement Day," and "The Beds That Are Always Made." These stories all take place with one common theme in mind: the supernatural. The titular story in the collection, "Freak in the Flesh," tells the tale of a group of civilians trapped inside city hall on a cold, stormy night. Though, evil lurks within the hall-- as there's a rapid and mysterious disappearance of members of the group that makes the civilians question just who could be behind it.
Then, readers face "Judgement Day," a flash fiction story that details a questionable journey through the afterlife. After tragically passing away in a car accident, one woman must encounter a demon face to face and accept the fact that she is truly dead.
Finally, readers are met with "The Beds That Are Always Made"-- a tale of grief, and a tale of loss. One woman must accept the loss of her late husband. "The Beds That Are Always Made" walks readers through the feeling of loss-- and eventually, change.
