J.B. Hopkins grew up along the muddy brown beaches of the Texas coast.
He was a mediocre surfer and skater, Atari 2600 owner, and firmly believes that 80s music is the best.
J.B. likes to travel, snap pictures, design covers, and scribble down words when he's not hanging out with his family and their two dogs: a sneaky Westie named Lulu; and a pure-of-heart, loyal, yet incredibly unintelligent Cockapoo he calls Bear.
Jack Leonard's father, Billy, is an alcoholic.
Billy isn't a bad guy. Friends would say he's the life of the party; his family might refer to him as harmless. After all, he isn't a mean drunk ... he's a happy drunk. Unfortunately, these things tend to run in the family, and Jack is following in the old man's footprints.
Then Jack meets a girl, and what once seemed inevitable loses its luster. Samantha fills many of the little holes in Jack's life.
Fast-forward twenty years and Jack's life is almost perfect. At least on the surface.
The Leonard family is going to be tested … and only time will tell if they can survive.
Texas Jack is a compelling story about family relationships, redemption, and finding peace with loved ones. It's about people at their best and worst.
