Time seemed to stand still as they continued to fight. The lad knew Bradley had more strength and that he had to be very cunning. His wounds were starting to ache, and he could feel his strength ebbing ever so slightly. Still, the masked man persisted. He almost slipped on a blood splatter on the floor, losing his footing and Bradley went in for the kill. Just in time the boy jumped to the side, forcing Bradley to abort his swing. But that action caused him to lose his balance, and the lad managed to put a serious cut on his chest.
Bradley backed up, surprise and pain causing him to curse. "Bloody Damn Bastard! Who the Hell are you?" he managed to get out. "You are a coward, hiding behind that mask. Show yourself boy and fight like a man."
Knowing they were both was spent for the moment, the man in black decided to reveal his true nature. Without taking his eyes off of Bradley's face, he slowly reached up with his left hand to untie the mask. That action caused his right shoulder to ache, and he winced under his breath.
Before he could manipulate the ties Bradley laughed, "Oh boy, I did get you. You are fighting with a wounded shoulder. Show you face before I put you out of your misery. You fought well but it is over. I have won," Bradley laughed.
Bradley's eyes reflected death. Death delivered fast and cleanly. What would happen when his identity was revealed? The man behind the mask felt like giving up and begging for mercy. Bradley have mercy, what was he thinking? He glanced over at the bed, seeing Gwendolyn Sutton spread out like some ancient sacrifice to an evil god. He had to stop this madman, or forever live in fear. Stubbornness and pride helped him overcome the fears. He would prevail! He was worth more than ten men like Bradley, and he had a life waiting with his own true love. With each thought, confidence was recovered. With a quick motion he pulled the tie releasing the mask. Pulling it up over his head he let it fall. Slowly, with a soft whoosh, the silk fluttered to the ground. It seemed to be an eternity until it landed with a soft puff of sound, kicking up a small cloud of dust. The silence was overwhelming.
Bradley's eyes opened very wide when he saw the face the mask revealed. If death was in his eyes before, it was worse now. For a moment Bradley stood still, but soon the shock wore off and a black rage the likes of which he had never experienced took over. In his rage he sought to inject doubt and despair, "My God, it is you. You will wish you were dead when I get through with you. And You Will Die, slowly and painfully. And I will enjoy every moment of your torment. So Night Raider, prepare to die!" he laughed eager to bring to pain and suffering to his tormentor.
