Socratic is the story of a young African-American male from humble beginnings who is not only the first of his family to graduate college but to attend law school. While attaining his law degree, Langston Oliver weaves his right of passage into the bourgeoisie legal society while trying to untangle from the threads of the old neighborhood and its precarious ways. Socratic dives deep into the bowels of legal education, its methods, and its rigors while exploring the non-pedagogical elements that form a legal career. Langston seeks the spoils that he believes come with a law degree but finds himself returning to his roots with a bar license as his shield and sword in defense of his community.
