James Strange is an author, teacher, and veteran military musician, performing for years as a string and brass player with the Royal Marines Band. Decades of professional experience, academic study, and general globe-trotting musical escapades have led to James gathering a tsunami of tips and tricks from some of his most acclaimed and influential musicians and mentors.
He studied music theory in a converted Royal Navy prison at the Royal Marines School of Music for several years, sharing a cell with a mean double bass, a shifty piano, a cool bass guitar, and a tuba so tough they gave him his own wing.
After completing his degree from the University of Edinburgh, James established his own publishing company and record label. This allowed him to print, produce and distribute his musical works worldwide. His catalogue of songs has attracted millions of streams, sales, and downloads across the globe.
He completed a postgraduate certificate in education and qualified as a teacher in 2019. Since then, he has focused on sharing his experiences and knowledge through teaching and writing educational resources.
For the first time, he has put his vast knowledge into a book to show you how to rapidly learn music theory so you can apply it to your own playing right away.
