The narrative of Journey Back Home mirrors the biblical tale of The Prodigal Son. Oftentimes, children mistakenly believe that they need liberation from their parents to live their lives to the fullest, without interference. This usually rings true for children from affluent families, where their privilege can cultivate entitlement, causing them to rebel and go off in pursuit of independence.
Regardless of background, children that prematurely emancipate themselves from their parents, after finding themselves in all sorts of self-inflicted troubles, eventually come to their senses and yearn to return home. They are generally willing to swallow their pride, humble themselves, beg for forgiveness, and do anything that is required of them, just to be accepted back into the family. They desire to go back to where they know they truly belong — home. They long to be welcomed back by the very parents from whom they had liberated themselves.
Journey Back Home juxtaposes The Prodigal Son narrative against how people stray from God the Creator, after falling for various deceptions by the devil. It notes how humanity is now in despair, needs to regain good sense, and return home to God the Father — for redemption and restoration.
