Just as revealing are the strategies employed by historians debating the speech into the 21st century. Also of particular interest is the messenger of one account, Associated Press journalist Louis Lochner: a midwestern American pacifist in Berlin who had studied Music, Greek, and Latin before pivoting to Journalism.
