Paul Kilfoil was first bitten by the incurable travel bug in 1987 after ditching a dreary 9-to-5 job and going on a 5-month walkabout in Europe. He spent the first part of that trip with three friends, an experience that turned him off group travel forever. Since then he has been to every continent on Earth except Antarctica, either on his own or with his wife and stepson.
When the internet came along, Paul jumped on the blogging bandwagon and began chronicling his travels via his web site while on the road. A wannabee writer since an early age, Paul is now turning his travel blogs into book form.

This book is a humorous and self-deprecating account of how the author and his wife and stepson spent weeks wandering around Thailand and Cambodia in South-East Asia, forsaking luxuries such as taxis, 5-star hotels and air-conditioned restaurants. They rode trains, buses, bicycles, boats, scooters, tuk-tuks and elephants, braved severe heat, monsoon rain and con artists, and ate street food while baffling the people they met with persistently atrocious attempts to talk the local lingo. Along the way they managed to see some of the most memorable places on earth, such as the Death Railway and the River Kwai in Thailand, and Angkor Wat and the notorious Khmer Rouge Genocide Museum in Cambodia.
