Kelsie looks for every opportunity to dance. When she learned about the grand ball in downtown Ruthie-Town, she couldn't get there fast enough.
Ballgowns? Dancing? A glorious hall decked out in ribbons and flowers? It was practically made with her in mind.
It only excited her more when a turn about the room brought her face-to-face with a fellow attendee, one who was seeking out a partner for the first dance.
Laurie adores everything old fashioned, from clothing to architecture. So when the grand ball was announced, she knew she had to attend.
Little did she know she would run into a young woman who would sweep her off her feet.
When Kelsie decides to throw a ball of her own, Laurie is more than happy to join in. Except the planning of the event itself challenges Kelsie in a way she never thought it would.
Kelsie begins to struggle to find the positive in each disappointing situation. While Laurie does her best to patch things up, they both find that the event they're aiming for isn't the grand ball either of them hoped it would be.
And as they get closer, Kelsie begins to feel more for Laurie than she ever knew she could. It worries her. Will falling in love ruin their friendship?
Or will the failure of their grand ball mean the end of something beautiful growing between them, once they have nothing more to work on together?
