I was born in England, but have lived in Southern California for many years. I m now retired and live in the Pacific NW in a little seaside city amongst the giant redwoods and wonderful harbor, almost at the Oregon border. My husband and I have one cat, called Midnight and she is featured in two of my latest Sci-Fi short stories. I love Science Fiction, animals, and trying to help others. I publish under Doreen Milstead as well as my own name. My photo was taken right before the coronation of QE II in the UK.

Taking a deep breath, Anna picked up her quill and parchment, her hand trembling slightly with anticipation. With each stroke of her pen, she poured her hopes and dreams onto the page, crafting a letter that would soon set her
As Christmas approached, the streets of London were filled with festive decorations and bustling crowds. For Anna, it was a time of year that she had always longed to experience but never had the chance to.
Growing up in poverty, Christmas was just another day for Anna and her family. They couldn't afford decorations or lavish gifts, let alone a hearty feast. Instead, they would try to make the best of what little they had, often going without food so they could save up for rent. Their most common food was bread and lard.
