C. A. Sauve lives in Sudbury, Ontario in his mother's basement. He finds independence nearly unmanageable and lacks motivation for much, save for writing, which he does every day for hours. He's never worked a regular job, nor could he ever imagine doing so. Writing is literally all he is capable of. He consistently works out—either at home or the gym—reads, plays videogames and of course, writes. Without writing, he'd have unproductivity as a pastime, a life that is just existence, so writing is truly all he has, it's every part of him, it's his life, whether he becomes a success or dies a struggling artist.
Sixty years after the toxic smog spread across the globe, the air is still unbreathable. Many alive today have never seen the outside world without looking through a window, or watching a video of times past, of better times on the internet. But while most are stuck in their homes nearly all the time, if not all the time, some struggle with the abuse of a parent or a spouse, making the aloneness that much lonelier, which is the case for Emiliano and his sisters, Shannon and Imelda. As bad as it is, however, they quickly find out it's much, much worse. And it just gets worse, the more they learn of the smog's true purpose.
