The Wisteria, situated on the beautiful North Coast idyll of Umhlanga, is a magnificent, twenty-room B & B owned and managed by the enigmatic and hugely successful Grace Wilsbury, widow of one of South Africa's most prominent mining company bosses. The B & B, together with Compote, Grace's quaint and one-of-a-kind tea shop, form the heart and soul of the local community.
When Johannesburg-based publisher, Natalie Wilson, makes an unplanned trip to interview Grace after the inopportune resignation of one of her editors, the two weeks spent at The Wisteria change both their lives forever. The menagerie of locals also makes for an interesting few days. Lesley Ritley, a lonely and dissatisfied aspirant writer, fosters anachronistic, upper-class notions that are holding her back. Felicity West, the bitchy business tycoon with a dodgy road to success, craves the local limelight. And why can't the gorgeous owner of a popular local seafood restaurant and lifeguard, Liam Lonman, find it in himself to utter a single friendly word?
