Bill Lloyd is a novelist whose work deals with human relationships and the search for meaning in a postmodern world. His first novel, Searching for Cibola, follows the emotional journey of a middle-aged man as he tries to make sense of his life following the sudden departure of his wife after twenty-five years of marriage. His second novel, The Solitude Myth, explores a young man's struggle to separate truth from fiction during an extended stay in the south of France. His third novel, Dramatics, is a study of personal dynamics and role playing at an experimental theater production in the Languedoc region of France.
Several years ago, Bill Lloyd retired from Academia to begin a new career as a writer. A native New Yorker and long-time resident of California, he now divides his time between the high desert of New Mexico and the vineyards of the Languedoc region of southern France. All truth is subjective or so David believes. A New Yorker in his early thirties, he moves to Paris to work for an international aid agency. He enjoys the challenge of his new job and the understated love affair he embarks upon with the quintessential Parisian Colette, but then his carefully scripted story goes awry. After experiencing a bout of forgetfulness he moves to Saint-Jude in the south of France for a period of rest and recovery. As he struggles to regain his memories he keeps meeting people who seem to know him better than he knows himself, including the lovely Celeste who encourages him to confront the deeper implications of his missing memories. She leads him to the point where he must decide what is real and what isn't in a world of contradictions and illusions. The Solitude Myth has been described as "an insight into existential mysteries."
