Gabriel and Theretore, a couple from Texas, seek a fresh start in New Jersey with their two daughters. Gabriel, a waitress, and Theretore, a chiropractor, lead busy lives in Texas before deciding to relocate. They are motivated by the promise of new opportunities and a better life for their children, who are active in sports.
After moving to New Jersey, settling into their new home, and enrolling their daughters in school, Gabriel and Theretore encounter unexpected challenges. Both begin cheating at work and lying about their whereabouts after hours. They also start secretly spending money, causing financial strain.
