Bruno Basic was born in a country that no longer exists and has been waiting for a starship for his birthday since he was six. The prospect of a future united federation of planets, his belief in humanity and an expansive imagination sees him smiling and stress-free, despite the fact that we are living in the stupid ages.
He is a teacher, a discerning lover of science fiction and generally wins at board games. Bruno's Yugoslavian roots and incredible ability to speak with conviction, regardless of knowledge on any given topic, makes him a frequent storyteller at dinner.
He finished school at Mt Gravatt High and went on to complete a Bachelor of Education, but while waiting for a call from the department he polished off a degree and PhD in chemistry. He currently teaches mathematics and sciences at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. And is still waiting for that starship.
According to the kodari, the newly discovered wormhole is part of a limited and poorly understood network connecting distant star systems.
On a post-Bottleneck Earth, the loose political organisation Human Advent are mistrustful of the kodari motives. Members are questioning their activities within the Solar System and the imposed restrictions on the use of the tunnel network.
Some see a bright future for humanity, a chance for an everlasting legacy. Others are caught between representing the populace, interspecies diplomacy, and their own ambitions.
