Max Anderson has a problem with trusting women. He likes them just fine but he can't trust one. His first real experience with a woman Samantha turned into a nightmare. He was chased away from his home with the accusations that she brought against him. Everyone believed her even though it never made sense. Max wasn't that guy.
As an adult he avoided dating though he blamed his work he knew it was because he couldn't get over his past. Then a case fell on his desk and he saw the victim. It was the woman who caused him all this pain even a decade later.

All the meanwhile he had a secret crush on a previous student of his. When everything was finally said and done with the case he finds her at his office door. Deanna Watson had a problem and he was the only one that could help her.
He was glad to be able too. He hoped for a little more as well.
