We all wear masks in our everyday lives. We wear them so that others see only what we want them to see. We get so used to having them on that we begin to believe that the masks we wear are the real us. When our mind begins to believe the mask we wear is the real us, the real harm starts. We begin to lose our real selves. When enough of our real self disappears, it is hard for us to understand what is really happening and we fall into a state of existence that is, perhaps, not what we wanted at all.
One of the many areas of our lives this affects is our sexuality and how we see ourselves. For women this can become an issue that is hard to resolve. Society has placed restrictions and expectations on women that can be suffocating to say the least.
Instead of working on taking off the masks we have made for ourselves, perhaps a better solution is to make another mask. A mask that only contains the personal and sexual traits that we want to have. Then we could put it on when we want and leave the boring mask we show others for everyday wear. You can indeed do that with a little help. But who would help you? Even if you found help to build the mask, where would you feel comfortable wearing it? What would you do when you did wear it?
