She was attacked by a fellow inmate because the rough criminal saw Kate as an easy target. Wrong. Kate's antagonist was seriously injured, and Kate was put in solitary confinement for defending herself. In the end Kate was vindicated and got her own personal revenge against her remaining antagonist.
