Description
This book explores the Dracula myth, analyzing the connections between history, fiction, and the legends surrounding Bran Castle in Transylvania. Far from having a real historical basis, the associations between Count Dracula, Vlad the Impaler, and Bran Castle are debunked based on research, including the theory of the influence of the orientalist Vámbéry Ármin on Bram Stoker. The book examines the elements that contributed to the global popularity of the Dracula myth—from Stoker's gothic novel and its cinematic success to the controversies during communist Romania and its impact on tourism. It offers a detailed analysis of how fiction and history intertwine to create one of the most well-known stories of the modern world.
