Many rely on their physical senses to establish or verify what is true. If they cannot analyze, massage, quantify, qualify, and replicate the data, If they can't measure it through the five known senses, they tend to dismiss it and in the process may shut out great lessons God would have all of us learn for our benefit and blessing.,It was the righteousness of the people of Zion which led the Lord to upgrade their city to a terrestrial order, and take it away from this earth .
The Flood was not a fairy tale or myth promulgated by primitive peoples who saw it as something being caused by a savage God acting with impetuous violence against those who would dare to defy him with minor infractions of the rules. A careful study of .ancient manuscripts recently come to light, and comparing them with the Joseph Smith translation of Genesis leads one to conclude as Dr. Hugh Nibley has, that [1] God was very reluctant to send the Flood and greatly sorrowed at having to do so. [2] The people had developed a brand of wickedness that made the Flood mandatory,.[1] He said there was no gloating in heaven over the fate of the wicked world. There was weeping instead, by Enoch who was shown it would happen, and by God Himself, who wept over His own children and His own creations that he now sought to destroy, It was the deliberate exploitation of the heavenly order as a franchise for sordid earthly ambitions. It was no open revolt against God, but a clever misuse of His name, no renunciation of religion but a perversion of piety. This vicious order was riveted down by solemn oaths and covenants of which we read a great deal in the Enoch literature. This was no mere naughtiness, but a clever inversion of values with forms and professions of loyalty to God that in its total piety and self-justification could never be set aright. It could only get worse; sons lay with others, fathers lay with daughters, all committing adultery with their neighbors' wives. "The picture is one of infection of the earth itself by the depravity of man, sinning also against birds, beasts, and against each other, eating flesh and drinking blood until finally the earth itself cried out: Wo, Wo is me the mother of men, when shall I rest?"[2] Instead of the Flood being sent to a surprised community one fine day, says Nibley, "We have in the Enoch literature a picture of a long period of preparation during which the mounting restlessness of the elements clearly admonishes the human race to mend its ways. "In contemplating these terrifying events, Enoch never lets us forget that the real tragedy is not what becomes of people, but what they become… the people of Enoch's day and Noah's day were quite satisfied with themselves as they were, and they hotly resented any efforts of help and advice from God's messengers…."[3] Enoch's picture is of the technological advancement of the doomed and wicked world in which men defy God:…"confident in their technological and scientific knowledge … they thought to emancipate themselves from dependence upon God through their technological know how. They knew the ruling principles of the cosmos, and they relied on it until at length God corrected them by restoring the earth to its primitive state and covered it with water.
