Who knows where the strangers are coming from? Or why?
Is burning a bra the way to emancipation? Or just a waste of good underwear?
Can the child of warring parents survive an encounter with a deadly cat?
Do gameshows lead to stardom? Are handsome princes reliable?
Can you trust the traffic lights or are they secretly in league with the streetlamps?
And what's so great about music anyway?
Faced with these questions, the characters in this collection of short stories brush past each other as they travel through the 20th century, navigating a world of uncertain terms – and sharing spoons.
