This book deals with one of the most important Kabbalistic mystical movements in the history, namely the Sabbatean movement, which gathered most of the Kabbalistic doctrines and melted them into one crucible with the aim of proving the Messianic nature of Sabbatai Zevi (שַׁבְּתַי צְבִי). Sabbatean Kabbalah was influenced by theosophical-theurgical Kabbalah or theoretical Kabbalah, whether that of Ha'ari (האר"י )or those of Ramak (רמ״ק).
In 1683, seven years after the death of Sabbatai Zevi, about 300 Jewish families in Thessaloniki converted to Islam, led by Yosef Philosoph (יוסף פילוסוף). These families, together with the converts to Islam from the time of Sabbatai Zevi, formed the nucleus of the Donme (דוֹנְמֶה) sect, which continued to exist secretly, often practicing a dual identity as Jews and Muslims.
Over time, the circle of criticism and attacks on the Sabbatean sect or the Donme sect widened, who strongly rejected all accusations, and also denounced what was mentioned about them in the book that Written by Ilgaz Zorlu (אילגז זורלו), one of their dissident members, in which he described their ideology and way of life with contempt. The members of the sect stressed that the book does not reflect reality and presents a distorted image of them, and stressed the need to verify the accuracy of information instead of making accusations.
