I’ve arrived at my writing debut via a life in engineering, painting and sculpting.
Not a usual path for an author, for certain.
Starting at school in Chichester in the south of England, via University at Imperial College, London, UK – where H.G.Wells made his start – I worked through a bunch of jobs mainly in the project management side of the construction industry in England, I finally settled in Southern Ontario, Canada. There, I worked in steel, public housing and bank sectors. Early retirement allowed me to say goodbye to industry. Moved on to Ontario College of Art and Design for honours in Sculpture and Installation. Worked my art practice in a shared stone sculpture studio for over ten years. Now resting my overworked arms to pursue writing.
Generally a life well lived, exposed to all those left weighted brains and right ones too.
Do I sound a bit straight up to you? Maybe. But read what I have to say before you reach any hard onclusion.
This book provides a comprehensive exploration of the early history and development of Christianity, spanning its origins through the medieval period. It begins with an in-depth analysis of the roots of Christianity, focusing on the life of Jesus, the apostolic foundations, and the rise of Christian communities within the Roman Empire. The initial chapters trace the transformation of Christianity from a persecuted sect to an established religion under Constantine, examining key moments such as the Edict of Milan and the Council of Nicaea, which helped shape the theological and institutional foundations of the Church.
As the Church expanded, it encountered challenges from both within and outside its ranks. The book explores the theological disputes that arose, such as the Arian controversy, and the way these debates led to the consolidation of Christian orthodoxy. It also examines the increasing role of the papacy, the evolution of Christian worship, the spread of monasticism, and the Church's engagement with Roman and later Byzantine political structures.
