In the land of primal impulses, at the age of six, Lázaro de Jesús Villamayor develops a strange disease: his skin changes color, like a chameleon's, the floor he's standing on explodes, his heart stops, and he sinks into the earth; ten robust men can't budge him. Doctors, shamans, witches can't cure him. His grandfather, Señor Hipólito Villamayor, and Lázaro leave Sirirí, a fictional town in the middle of the jungle, for Paris, in search of the specialist in occult diseases. It's the beginning of the twentieth century and medicine is uncovering the unknown. Lázaro defies his grandfather and enrolls at the University of Paris; instead of finding a cure for his disease, he becomes an exceptional dissector. His illness has granted him another bizarre symptom: the power to understand a language that only organs speak.
When Lázaro returns to Sirirí, a civil war has erupted. He performs an autopsy…. After the last stitch in the skin of the dead body, Lázaro grabs a revolver. It's time to face his grandfather, there could be wild beasts on the road.
