Rob has a keen interest in history and military strategy. Among others, he admires the work of Mervyn Peake, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Joseph Conrad; and especially loves the humour of P.G. Wodehouse. He lives in Brisbane, Australia and plays the trumpet in community orchestras.
With the Gatherers no longer needed by the City and suffering from a mysterious illness, Cruge, their new chieftain, leads his people in a hazardous march through Sorg and the unknown lands beyond, in search of a cure at New Edina. Along the way they are joined by Miss Millicent and Chas, the resourceful Mister Pont and the tiny but lethal Femurs. Together the group must face ferocious renegade attacks — and unwelcome love-struck suitors — as they fight for their place in this dangerous land.
Meanwhile, Urgus follows Hector as he takes sail again in the Oceanic Venture, seeking new adventure and a safe sea route to New Edina. Their voyage will bring Hector once more into battle, and a final reckoning, with Lourmel of the Seapeople, and will cause Urgus to question his allegiances — and find his destiny.
An exciting conclusion to the Urgus trilogy.
