Lyn is a passionate advocate for health and wellness, driven by her personal journey with Marfan Syndrome that has led her through countless major orthopaedic operations, including five total joint replacements since the age of 14.
Over the past 25 years, Lyn has honed her knowledge using good nutrition to reduce inflammation and manage pain, as well as the mental health challenges associated with chronic conditions like pain, arthritis and inflammation. She has always believed in the food "pharmacy" to heal both physical and mental health conditions and through eating a balanced whole foods diet, has overcome many challenges. By sharing information with others, Lyn believes that many people can remove dangerous pain medication from their daily lives and improve not only their health, but their quality of life.
This book explores the alarming rise of ultra-processed foods in our modern diets and their detrimental impact on physical and mental health. We delve into the differences between processed and ultra-processed foods, examine the dangers of refined carbohydrates, and uncover the link between insulin resistance, diabetes and cognitive decline, including Alzheimer's disease, and mental health conditions like depression and anxiety - now common in children and teenagers.
By understanding the science behind these dietary choices, we can empower ourselves to make informed decisions for a healthier future for ourselves and our families.
