It had been months since Eric Saunders left for Boston. What has happened to him? Did his father pass away, was he in a shipwreck and stranded on some remote island, or did he decide he no longer loved her? Alicia is determined to find out. She travels to Boston and is shocked when she sees him. She was prepared for his love to have faded. She was absolutely unprepared for the reality that hit her.
The leader started to pat her down, but he stopped without comment. He stared down at her face for a long time, so long that his companion noticed.
"Hey Mac, you all right? You have been staring like you have seen a ghost."
"No...not a ghost." He moved his hands over the young man's body again. When he was confident that his companions could not see, he pulled up the shirt on the body. What he saw confirmed his suspicions.
"Well, what the hell is it? We have to get going. They will be all right. That one bandaged his friend's cuts. They are both breathing. What is the matter? Seeing how they are injured, it will be slow to get Curls and Moke on their horses. And what happened to Larry? Is he still around the bend? Oh, here he is," Carson commented as he saw his associate slowly walk around the bend, leading his horse.
The leader did not know what to do. He once again studied the face of the man lying on the road, then took his hands in his, feeling their softness.

"Shut up, I am thinking. We have a situation here. One we have never faced before. I think it may be an opportunity. I have to decide what to do," Mac responded to his henchman.

"Oh, you mean like a rich person for ransom? Who is it, a politician?"
"Not exactly a who but a what."
"What are you talking about? Mac, you are not making sense. Did you get knocked in the head?"
