This #mm novella/short novel-length romantic story is written for a mature reader.
When Caesar arrives in France and takes up his post at a spiritual retreat in the middle of nowhere, the last person he expects is to meet the god-like Beau - the neighbour with the body of Adonis and the secret of all secrets. A neighbourly invitation to share a fireside glass of wine elicits the most unexpected admission - Beau is gay. Gay but deeply closeted.
Their relationship is dogged by doubt, uncertainty, and heated arguments, which finally drive Caesar away and back to the UK.
On arriving back in the village of his childhood - one full of extremely painful memories of his parents - Caesar bumps into Mr Finlay, the local eccentric, whose wife taught Caesar while at infant school. Their reunion leads to a job offer for Caesar as housekeeper.
The story flips frequently between the seven-and-a-half year period at the retreat, leading up to Caesar's decision to leave the mountain and Beau, and the picking up of the pieces back in the village, eventually leading to the ultimate test of faith.
And if Beau has a closely guarded secret, it is nothing compared to Mr Finlay's, and one that sets Caesar an altogether different challenge.
A happy ever after has never been Caesar's destiny, but then he has never before had Mr Finlay fighting in his corner.
A story that seeks to answer the following questions - Who are we? Where do we belong?
